Tears of joy because I love you and you're awesome but tears of sadness because I'll miss tonight. Love you!! 😘

Jacqueline Rendell's avatar

Awwww....!!! Thank you, my beautiful friend. I appreciate you so much. I LOVE YOU!!!

Karafree's avatar

awesome post of the process SiSTAR!!

I so get that thing about procrastination, stalling and stalling till It must be done.

It reminds me of a quote I have always loved and related to by one of my favorite writers Anais Nin

Anais Nin — 'And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.'

So you go girl!! I've seen how you Blossom and it's ALL GOOD!

Jacqueline Rendell's avatar

haha!! I love that, sisSTAR!!

Anais Nin is amazing. What a beautiful quote!

Thank you for cheering for me, soul sister!! xox

Enjoy those shows in the Hammer! Rock the Casbah Jacqueline! Your voice shines through, and anybody in the audience is blessed. Bath well! Sending love and light. I’ll keep an eye out for that Ontario tour 🙏❤️

Jacqueline Rendell's avatar

Awww....thank you so much, Jamie!! What a beautiful thing to say! :)

I do believe the venues I used to play at in London are all gone. Is Call The Office still there?

Jamie Millard's avatar

Drove by it Saturday and remarked that it is still open lol! A few wobbly walks home from there in the late 80s lol! I saw Dave Grohl there pre Nirvana days. Its iconic. Where else did you used to play?

Jacqueline Rendell's avatar

Amazing!!! It IS iconic. It's where I had my first gig ever in London for a CHRW fundraiser.

I LOVE that place so much. It helped to make me who I am. ;)

I saw Radiohead there on their tour for The Bends.

I spent a lot of time at The Embassy. I opened for Jewel there, and saw Pavement, Henry Rollins...so many bands.

Can't remember the name of the old pub that was rickety....?

Jamie Millard's avatar

Oh my the Embassy! Indeed. I grew up a few blocks away. That rickety old pub could be a few places lol! It’s sad to see the old places go. You take a look at Call the Office from the outside and you never would appreciate or even understand just how immense it was inside of us! It was a place that let art flow and gave me an appreciation of what authenticity looked like. Bless you. Keep singing your heart out. 🙏❤️

Jacqueline Rendell's avatar

YES!!! Beautifully said, Jamie. I was 18-22, going there almost every night, paying $2 cover to get in, only to be exposed to some of the most exciting and interesting bands of that time. Hugely formative and rich experiences. And of course dancing my butt off on Sundays at Ray-gun.

"Keep singing your heart out." I certainly will, my brother. xo

Sometimes we just don't feel like it, at other times we doubt ourselves despite sufficient evidence that we can do it. No amount of thinking it beforehand can substitute for the joy and experience of doing it.

As you rightly point out, things usually turn out well. Wishing you the best in this, Jacqueline. I'm sure you'll do well. It's always clear that music matters dearly to you; it's good to see you dedicate more time to it.

Jacqueline Rendell's avatar

Patrick, thank you...so much. :)

If I could redo all the times I didn't do something just because "I didn't feel like it doing it" my life would be entirely different!!

I suppose this kind of learning is what life is all about. I hope you're doing well where you are and have a great day!

Patrick Muindi's avatar

Welcome, Jacqueline, and thanks. Yes, I'm doing well; have a great day too.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and your livestream. 💖

Thank you so much!! :)

What a great quote~ one to touch upon every day.

Thank you for reading and for your awesome support. xo

(I'd love to know your name, but then you wouldn't be anonymous...)

Anomalous Anonymous's avatar

You’re most welcome Jaqueline. 💖 Glad you enjoy the quote. Rumi has a lot of good ones.

Re: my name, I sent you an email a while back. After your first livestream. Or feel free to look up my email in your subscription list.🧐 Hope your show went well Jaqueline! 🙏

We had a great time. An intimate room and lovely evening with friends and music.

Blessings to you, Jaqueline, for tearing open the curtain and sharing your heart through the musical realm. So much on all our hearts at this time of the world, 2024. I lived hard in my youth, partying and not expecting to survive to Elder age. Now that I am an Elder, I can see the benefit of holding on, digging through the mud and finding the gems hidden beneath the surface. God and His Son also help immensely. Keep going!!! Wendy

Jacqueline Rendell's avatar

Thank you so very much, Wendy. :)

"digging through the mud and finding the gems..."~ YES!! This exercise is hugely rewarding. There does seem to be an excess of mud these days but perhaps this means there are more gems, too, to discover.

I will keep going! Your encouragement is appreciated!

Wendy Elizabeth Williams's avatar

Always, Jaqueline, encourage is what I do! Yes, more mud but more gems!! That is how God works! Blessings to you, Jacqueline.

Holy cats, Jac, is that your handwriting? That is beautiful! Turn that into a commercial font and license it for 100 dollars a pop! (Or whatever strange currency you guys use up in the frozen north—beaver pelts or whatever.)

I know handwriting wasn't the point here, but wow!

Jacqueline Rendell's avatar

hahaha!! Holy cats!!! Beaver pelts. hahahhaha

Yes it is....and THANK YOU! :)

"Turn that into a commercial font and license it for 100 dollars a pop! "

You've got me wondering if that's a possibility.....;) xox

Christopher Cook's avatar

Some people do it, so it can be done. The font sites (dafont.com, fontspace.com, etc.) may have forums in which you could find someone? I have no idea, though—I have never done anything like this.

(Though interestingly, I do have a font that needs to be created—my alternative international phonetic alphabet. So LMK if you find out anything!)

Jacqueline Rendell's avatar

I will def let you know, my friend!!

I'd love to have all my days of scribbling & doodling pay off. ;)

Charlotte Pendragon's avatar

A friend of mine used this program to digitize her handwriting. She created her own font from it. You do have to download some apps and get procreate. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlw_kXrv7ko

Jacqueline Rendell's avatar

Wow!! Thanks so much for letting me know, Charlotte!

Charlotte Pendragon's avatar

I agree! Beautiful stunning handwriting! ✍️ 🥰

Jacqueline Rendell's avatar

Thank you, Charlotte!!

And this is messy!! I'll upload some pics of my writing when I'm trying to make it look good sometime. I find it so soothing, like drawing, to write in a pretty, artful way. It's like a meditation. ;) xox

Charlotte Pendragon's avatar

I have heard your handwriting reflects your inner self. I look at some of the things I wrote when I was really young and my handwriting has substantially changed over the years. Now it looks more like a doctor! Lol! I badly broke my wrist about 11 years ago which didn’t heal right and I have no plans to fix it. It’s greatly affected my handwriting so I only type these days.

I missed that thought connection between my mind and hand.

Jacqueline Rendell's avatar

Ouch!! A broken wrist must be so painful!

"I missed that thought connection between my mind and hand."

Thank you for the reminder to not take it for granted, Charlotte. xox

Christopher Cook's avatar

I just saw something recently about how pushing past mental resistance to do things one does not want to do—hard things, scary things, annoying things—grows new neural pathways.

Good lesson for all of us—thanks, JR!

Jacqueline Rendell's avatar

This makes a ton of sense! And it explains why it just gets easier and easier to say "shut the f$@# up!" to the voice, and then make the higher choice to stay on track and keep marching towards the fulfillment of our dreams. Synapse away, brain!! :)

Christopher Cook's avatar

Each time you do, the competence groove in your brain gets a little deeper. In other words, your brain gets a little groovier.

Jacqueline Rendell's avatar

Who doesn't want a groovy brain?!

Christopher Cook's avatar

An evil sect known as the Anti-Groovinators.

(Oh wait, was your question rhetorical?)

Jacqueline Rendell's avatar

Nope- this was exactly the answer I was looking for. ;)

CynthiaS's avatar

Beautiful essay Jacqueline! I don’t exactly perform my visual art (but I could…🤔 make some live…) yet this describes my very experience as a visual artist. Thanks, and omg I would love to hear you IRL! Enjoy ❤️

Jacqueline Rendell's avatar

Thank you so much, Cynthia!! xox

I figure the voice of resistance effects most artistic-types. Perhaps because it's so vulnerable to express ourselves and 'put it out there' that we are susceptible to finding sneaky justifications to not do it! I don't know. I just know it's more painful to not do it than to just DO IT!!

Have a beauty day, sister! xox

William Hunter Duncan's avatar

If I were anywhere near Hamilton I would be there. Congrats on the ongoing gig. I've no doubt it will be a success.

Jacqueline Rendell's avatar

Thank you so much, William!!

I truly appreciate your support. :)

William Hunter Duncan's avatar

I hope it went very well last night.

Jacqueline Rendell's avatar

It did, thank you!

Another great memory to hold and experience to use for refinement.

Jaap STIJL's avatar

thanks for this! really loved reading about your preparation and also, listening to the eventual performance. very touching, soft and tender.

Jacqueline Rendell's avatar

Thank you, Jaap!!

I appreciate your listening and taking the time to comment. :)

I played there. Say hi to Brodie for me.

Jacqueline Rendell's avatar

ha!! Amazing....!!! Are you still gigging?

Ian Nolan's avatar

Yes, but I’m in Edmonton now. See if you can get a gig at Corktown. That’s another awesome venue.

Jacqueline Rendell's avatar

Sweet~ happy to hear you're playing.

I love the Corktown. :)
